David M. Earle is Professor of Transatlantic Modernism and Print Culture, Interim Dean of the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and the Humanities, and former Chair of the Department of Art and Design at the University of West Florida. He is author of Re-Covering Modernism: Pulps, Paperbacks, and the Prejudice of Form (Ashgate, 2009) and All Man!: Hemingway, 1950s Men’s Magazines, and the Masculine Persona (Kent State, 2009) and editor of Where All Good Flappers Go: Essential Stories of the Jazz Age (Pushkin 2023). Online projects include the Virtual Newsstand, a digital recreation of a newsstand from 1925 (currently offline). He has also published on James Joyce and Absinthe, Joseph Conrad and Paperback Publishing, William Faulkner and Popular Magazines, and Modernism and Genre Novels.
Once upon a time he designed cocktail plans for Iron Chef Michael Symon's restaurants and was the first editor of the music magazine Alternative Press.
